Your provider will review the specific medication, strength, and risks that apply to you before prescribing, and you should ask every question you have.
Production-stimulating oral testosterone therapy (Testosterone RX; component of Testosterone RX+)
Do not use if you have
- A history of hypersensitivity to the prescribed medication or its components.
- Certain hormone-sensitive cancers, active or historical, unless your provider determines otherwise with your oncologist.
- Significant liver disease, untreated clotting disorders, or other conditions your provider identifies during screening.
Commonly reported side effects
- Headache
- Nausea
- Hot flashes
- Mood changes, including irritability
- Acne or oily skin
Serious risks: stop and seek care immediately
- Visual disturbances (blurring, floaters, blind spots). Stop the medication and contact your provider immediately.
- Signs of a blood clot: leg swelling or pain, chest pain, sudden shortness of breath. Seek emergency care.
- Severe mood changes, including depression or thoughts of self-harm. Seek care immediately; the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7.
Daily performance-support medication (component of Testosterone RX+)
Do not combine with
- Nitrates in any form (nitroglycerin, isosorbide). The combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
- Certain alpha-blockers and blood-pressure medications, unless your provider explicitly approves the combination.
- Recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrite).
Commonly reported side effects
- Headache, flushing, nasal congestion
- Indigestion
- Muscle aches or back pain
Serious risks: seek care immediately
- An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) is a medical emergency; permanent damage can result without prompt treatment.
- Sudden vision loss or sudden hearing decrease or loss.
- Chest pain during sexual activity.
